Purchasing Service Credit

As a PERA member, you may increase your service credit by purchasing service credit based on a refunded account or for employment not covered by PERA. All service credit purchases must be completed during active membership.

To purchase service credit, your eligibility and cost to purchase is dependent on several factors including:

• The date your current membership began

• The division you work under

• The type of purchase you are making; based on a refunded account or for employment not covered by PERA

• Your age at the time of purchase
